The Voice of Intuition

I’ve been reading, reading and doing more reading on the topic of intuition for quite some time now, especially within the last several months. I’ve wanted to work with my own intuition more profoundly, but I’ve also wanted to understand, more acutely, the differences between my inner voice, or Higher Self and my mind or ego voice.

Having such a loud ego voice sometimes, this has been quite a challenge. But one I’ve welcomed. Because once you DO understand the difference, it opens up a door to the most awesome internal GPS you’ll ever have.

Unlike the ego, which is loud, sometimes aggressive or critical and fear-based … intuition is subtle and calm and loving. And that’s often why people don’t hear it. It’s gentle, it’s encouraging, it’s soft and even when it’s assertive, it’s loving. At least, that’s been my experience with my intuition so far.

As many people who do this work know, intuition, much like all the information our brain receives on a daily basis, comes through various senses.

You can get a feeling inside about a person or situation and that is considered clairsentience (clear feeling). Or, you could just know something about a person or situation in your life without having any actual facts in front of you in that moment and that would be considered claircognizance (clear knowing). Some people receive information about situations in their life in their dreams or they get an image in their mind, which is clairvoyance (clear seeing) and of course, some people even hear their guidance, that soft voice in your mind that guides you left or right in a split second decision or pops in to caution you or to guide you on the next step to take in any given situation, which is called clairaudience (clear hearing).

There are even more, but these are some of the main ways we receiving information intuitively. And many of us, just as we had to learn how to process the information our brains receive from the 3D world of sight, sound, taste, touch, smell, etc., our brains have to also learn how to receive this more subtle information, because for many of us, we haven’t exercised those senses since we were children.

So, my best advice, as always, is to start small. Begin to work these senses one by one. Perhaps the first week, you work on feeling. Pay attention to how you feel inside (oftentimes in the gut) when you walk into work, when you come into contact with each person you pass that day, when your phone rings and you see who it is, when you go online or on social media, when you cook or clean, or walk into your home and see your pets or children or husband/boyfriend/significant other.

Just notice what you feel inside, the very subtle differences in energy, and allow those feelings to give you information about each of those situations. You don’t need to judge what you feel, but just open up to feeling, period. You might feel emotions across the spectrum in a single day or hour. Exercise that muscle.

Then begin to do the same with hearing, tune into every noise, large or small, i.e. the wind blowing through trees, a truck barreling down the road, the steady hum of your computer, the sound of the furnace clicking on, dishes clinking in the sink, the voice of a person you love, etc.

Same with the other senses, homing in on colors, tastes, smells, information you take in daily and how your brain absorbs it or how it feels in the body.

All of these things are excellent ways to begin to use this amazing internal GPS, that will guide you daily in every task to help your life run more smoothly and in alignment with your heart and soul. It’ll help you go WITH the flow of life rather than struggling against it.

But one step at a time, one task at a time. And most importantly, be gentle with yourself.

Till next time <3

Love and light,

~C~
